Alishan Golden Lily Loose Oolong Tea

Tips for Tea Connoisseurs

Our Alishan Golden Lily (aka. Taiwanese Jin Xuan Milk Oolong) is a lightly oxidised jade oolong tea originating from Ali Mountain, Taiwan. At the elevation of 1500m above sea level, Ali Mountain offers a mineral rich soil and a cool, misty climate, which is ideal for the production of best quality high mountain oolong teas, as the cooler temperature and limited exposure to the sun slow down the growth of tea plants and yield sweeter and tender tea leaves and buds.

Our Alishan Golden Lily is the perfect example of Taiwanese milk oolong tea that offers natural sweetness with milky and floral undertone. Authentic Taiwanese milk oolong tea is made from Jin Xuan Cultivar, which has been developed in the 1980s and has now become one of the four main cultivars grown in Taiwan (i.e. Qing Xin, Qing Xin Da Pan, Si Ji Chun, Jin Xuan cultivars). Jin Xuan, literally meaning "Golden Lily" in Mandarin Chinese, when grown in an ideal soil and climate condition, tea leaves release natural aromatic compound called "Lactone" during the processing, which gives the tea a distinctive milky and buttery flavour. Please be aware that authentic Taiwanese milk oolong tea is 100% naturally processed and no extra milky flavouring (be it natural or artificial flavouring) should be added to enhance the milky flavour.

A delicious, authentic, Taiwanese Milk Oolong that will pair well with madeleine, financier, scone or victorian sponge cake during your afternoon tea break.

As with all the teas, oolong tea also offers us health benefits to increase our sense of well-being. Several studies indicate that oolong tea is a rich source of antioxidant polyphenols and it may well be just as beneficial as green tea to promote weight loss and cardiovascular health by reducing high blood pressure and cholesterol.
