Darjeeling Second Flush Sungma China Muscatel Loose Black Tea

Tips for Tea Connoisseurs

Sungma Tea Estate is perched in Darjeeling’s misty Rungbong Valley, with the elevation ranging between 1100 and 1700m above sea level. Originally established in 1860s, Sungma Tea Estate has been merged with Turzum Tea Estate after a devastating earthquake in 1934. Since then, all the teas grown in Sungma Tea Estate are processed at the factory of Turzum Tea Estate. Under the rigorous supervision of Mr. Anil Kr. Jha, the Superintendent, Sungma-Turzum Tea Estate is now considered as one of the top quality tea gardens in Darjeeling.

Made from biologically grown tea leaves of a classic sinensis hybrid variety, our Darjeeling Second Flush: Sungma China Muscatel SFTGFOP1 offers a red mahogany coloured infusion with distinctive woody-spicy, floral notes. The woody-spicy note, evocative of cedar wood and saffron, is a notable element of our Darjeeling Second Flush: Sungma China Muscatel SFTGFOP1. This unique flavour brings a warming, uplifting yet refreshing character to the liquor while harmoniously combining with the floral, fruity undertone (rose and grape skin). A good presence of astringency contributes to the velvety texture of the liquor.

While most Darjeeling black tea is sold as a blend under the generic name “Darjeeling”, the top quality Darjeeling black teas are sourced directly from tea gardens and are not blended. Furthermore, the origin, along with their grade and sometimes additional information such as the main cultivar and batch number are indicated in the best Darjeeling teas, like in our Darjeeling collection.

Naturally grown without pesticide and chemical fertiliser. Certified IMO Organic.

Black tea is known to be just as beneficial as green tea for our health and well-being. A recent study indicates several health benefits of black tea by demonstrating that flavonoids found in black tea boost the immune system to prevent flu and other viral infection and encourage the growth of healthy microorganism in the liver to boost energy metabolism and weight loss.
