Shincha Asatsuyu is a medium steamed Futsumushi-style, Sencha, made from carefully cultivated Asatsuyu cultivar grown in Kagoshima Prefecture, Kyushu island. Asatsuyu (あさつゆ) is an elite cultivar, known as highly umami and rich and it's often called as “natural gyokuro”, because it makes a very umami green tea without having to go through the shading process.
Asatsuyu means “morning dew” in Japanese and it is an old cultivar which was officially registered in 1953. When made into sencha, it brews into a bright, yellow-green infusion with a good amount of sweetness, fragrant, refreshing aroma and slight astringency.
Made from the very first harvest of the tender leaves of Asatsuyu cultivar tea plants, this unique, special, single cultivar Sencha offers a refreshing, smooth, medium-bodied, infusion with rich, umami and cooked vegetable notes (green beans and zucchini) with refreshing grassy and fruity finish.
