Tips for Tea Connoisseurs
Nangang Honey Black is a bug-bitten black tea coming from a biological tea garden in Nangang, a village situated in the northern Taiwan. Nangang is the famous Baozhong oolong tea's original Taiwanese capital in the 19th century. Our Nangang Honey Black Tea has been crafted by a third generation tea master, Mr. Yu who has won several awards for his artisanal teas.
In order to develop a distinctive honey aroma black tea, Mr. Yu combined the traditional black tea making method with the production method of Oriental Beauty Oolong Tea, by allowing tea leaves to be bitten by small leafhoppers known as "green fly" during the hot and humid summer. As the insect bite upsets and initiates oxidation process of the tea leaves, the chemical composition of the leaves change accordingly, which then leads to the development of a very distinctive fruity-floral-honey flavour, which is typically found in Oriental Beauty oolong tea.
The result is a fragrant, medium-bodied black tea with multiple layers of natural sweetness evocative of honey, maple sap, floral (peony), fruity (persimmon) and sweet mild spices (cinnamon). The cinnamon flavour in the liquor is quite distinctive and lingers long on the palate - if you enjoy cinnamon, you'll find this black tea highly palatable.
A delightful black tea that reflects splendid modern tea culture in Taiwan, which combines the unque terroir, rich tea tradition and innovative art of tea making. The liquor being very smooth and low in tannin, our Nangang Honey Black can be savoured as a perfect, comforting, daily black tea.
Naturally grown without pesticide and chemical fertiliser.
Black tea is known to be just as beneficial as green tea for our health and well-being. A recent study indicates several health benefits of black tea by demonstrating that flavonoids found in black tea boost the immune system to prevent flu and other viral infection and encourage the growth of healthy microorganism in the liver to boost energy metabolism and weight loss.
