• Appearance: Slightly cloudy, pale green coloured infusion.
• Aroma: Creamy, cooked vegetal & grassy notes accompanied by sea breeze. 
• Flavour: Sweet, umami, grassy, steamed vegetable (spinach, zucchini) notes with a hint of marine.
• Mouthfeel: Smooth, light-bodied liquor with a silky mouthfeel and refreshing finish. 

Brewing Guidance

• Measure 1g of tea per 100ml water. Boil water to 65℃. Steep for 2-3 minutes.

Tips for Tea Connoisseurs

Uji Okumidori Kabusecha is made from carefully grown tea leaves of a rare and prestigious Okumidori cultivar, highly searched and praised by Japanese green tea connoisseurs for its elegant and refreshing aromas and flavours. 

Together with Gyokuro and Matcha, Kabusecha (かぶせ茶) is another type of shaded Japanese green tea. Kabuseru (かぶせる) means to cover in Japanese and Kabusecha refers to green tea made from tea leaves covered for 1-2 weeks. Same as Gyokuro and Matcha, Kabusecha is almost always made from exclusively a first flush tea. 

Okumidori is a fragrant tea cultivar developed in Shizuoka prefecture. It is a cross-breed between Yabukita cultivar and a native tea cultivar called “Shizuoka Zairai #16". In 1974, it was officially registered as tea cultivar and it makes a highly umami and fragrant Sencha, Gyokuro and matcha. Okumidori cultivar offers a refreshing liquor with sweet herbaceous notes and noticeably less astringency.
