Hoji Oolong Bio is a newly found treasure from our sourcing trip to Japan in 2025. Made from highly aromatic, organically grown, Koshun & Minami Sayaka tea cultivars, this artisanally crafted, roasted, Hojicha styled, oolong comes from a JAS certified organic tea garden located on the mountainous region of Miyazaki, Japan. Compared to Japanese roasted green tea, Hojicha, our Hoji Oolong Bio offers more complex flavours and aromas, as the base tea material before roasting has gone through oolong tea making process. Once steeped, it features sweet, roasted, comforting notes and a pleasing aromatic fruity, floral, honey bouquet. As the tea is low in caffeine, you can drink after your diner in the evenings.

Tasting Notes

  • Appearance: Dark, clear mahogany coloured infusion.
  • Aroma: Sweet, roasted, caramel, dried fruit notes.
  • Flavour: Sweet, roasted, floral, fruity (grape, peach), honeyed notes. 
  • Mouthfeel: Smooth, rounded, velvety liquor with comforting mouthfeel.

Brewing Guidance

  • Measure 1g of tea per 100ml water. Boil water to 90℃. Steep for 4-5  minutes.
