Tasting Notes

• Appearance: Slightly cloudy, fluorescent emerald green coloured infusion.
• Aroma: Toasty, cooked vegetal & grassy notes accompanied by sea breeze. 
• Flavour: Sweet, toasty chestnut, steamed vegetable (spinach, zucchini) notes.
• Mouthfeel: Full-bodied liquor with a velvety mouthfeel and refreshing finish. 

Brewing Guidance

• Measure 1g of tea per 100ml water. Boil water to 65℃. Steep for 2-3  minutes.

Asanoka meaning ' morning fragrance ' and Tsuyuhikari meaning ' dew light ', this delicious blend makes a perfect morning Sencha with pronouced gourmet toasty flavour - a delicious green tea to accompany your breakfast ! 

Asanoka（朝の香）is a unique, aromatic, Japanese tea cultivar, developed in the 1990s at the Tea Research Institute in Chiran, Kagoshima, by cross-breeding between Yabukita cultivar and a Chinese variety known as Hiramizu, originating from Zheijiang province. The Asanoka contains high amounts of amino acids and it offers sweet, umami flavour with refreshing floral and grassy notes. 

Tsuyuhikari is a highly fragrant, cross-breed cultivar between Asatsuyu (あさつゆ) and Shizu 7132, which was developed in 1970 in Shizuoka Prefecture. As a cross-breed of the two promising cultivars, Tsuyuhikari demonstrates the robust umami and rich flavour of Asatsuyu on one hand, and refreshing floral note of Shizu 7132 on the other hand. 

When brewed, our master blend, Sencha Morning Glory makes a beautiful fluorescent emerald green liquor and it boasts a beautiful balance and harmony between rich, pronounced umami flavour and sweet, toasty, chestnut flavour - a real delightful treat! As it's a full-bodied green tea, it's easy to pair with food and it will make a perfect breakfast green tea for you!
