Tips for Tea Connoisseurs

Charcoal Roasted Baozhong is our highly original, unique, complex oolong tea. Made from a highly sought-after, fragrant, Qing Xin cultivar grown in Pinglin, a tea growing region in the northern Taiwan, known for top quality, Baozhong oolong tea.

Originally, Baozhong is a lightly-oxidised, jade oolong tea. Due to the minimal oxidation level, Baozhong offers refreshing, vegetal notes of green tea as well as sweet, creamy floral notes that you can get from lightly oxidised oolong tea. When it's well-made by a skilled tea master, the liquor feels so gentle and pure with persistent, sweet, floral aroma and flavour refreshes our palate.

Our Charcoal Roasted Baozhong is highly unique in the sense that it went through  careful, meticulous roasting over a month with charcoal of longan wood, after the tea leaves have been through minimal oxidation. FYI, longan is a variety of lychee fruits grown in Asia.

The result is an incredibly complex, exceptional oolong tea that offers the flavour of firewood and flint at the fore, then quickly creamy, white floral notes last long at the background. It is a truly unique and luscious specialty oolong tea that will be much appreciated by dark roasted oolong tea enthusiasts, lovers of "Lao Cha" (rare Taiwanese antique oolong, meaning aged tea) as well as tea drinkers who search more finesse and complexity in their roasted oolong.

As with all the teas, oolong tea also offers us health benefits to increase our sense of well-being. Several studies indicate that oolong tea is a rich source of antioxidant polyphenols and it may well be just as beneficial as green tea to promote weight loss and cardiovascular health by reducing high blood pressure and cholesterol.
