Tips for Tea Connoisseurs
Silver Needle (aka. Bai Hao Yin Zhen) is a delicate, Chinese white tea, made from a downy silver buds, harvested in spring. White tea is the least processed tea among the six different kinds of tea, as no firing, steaming or rolling is involved in the production. Instead, the freshly harvested tender buds are withered in the sun to allow the natural, mild oxidation to take place. The result is a very smooth, light-bodied, gentle liquor with delicate, woody, fruity and vegetal flavours.
In order to make Jasmine Silver Needle, the finished white tea is carefully stored until summer when jasmine flowers start to bloom. Then Silver Needle white tea is layered with fresh jasmine blossoms during the night and the jasmine blossoms are removed in the following morning. This natural scenting process is repeated several nights until the aroma balance meets the standard of the skilful tea master.
Once brewed, our Jasmine Silver Needle white tea offers a highly elegant infusion, which gracefully infuses thick, honeyed jasmine floral note with the original delicate flavour of Silver Needle white tea - subtly woody, fruity and vegetal. A distinctive powdery sweetness in the finish leads to a very refreshing mouthfeel.
For jasmine tea enthusiasts, we suggest trying Jasmine Silver Needle with our other varieties of jasmine teas - Jasmine Phoenix Pearls, Jasmine Oolong and Wild Jasmine Green Tea - to taste the differences.
Recently, white tea has become increasingly popular, due to some studies linking its antioxidant properties to potential health benefits such as anti-ageing and promoting skin health.
