HOKUSAI KILN

Yamamoto Hokusai was born in 1978, Kyoto. After studying in the Kyoto technical school of pottery, he followed Luc De Boeck to get more experienced in porcelain making. He started his own kiln in 2000.

Hokusai Kiln is famous for its underglaze or overglaze decoration on the Ogata Kenzan style base that creates an atmosphere of special warmness. The paintings of grass, flower or birds on the surface of the products also feature a similar soft brushwork which could make the users feel calm and comfortable. By combining the essence of previous works and the modern life style, Hokusai Kiln aims to create porcelain products that contain traditional artistic values while being easy to use in daily life.
