This elegant Japanese Camellia Blossom Motif Matcha bowl (aka. "Chawan" in Japanese) has been hand-crafted by Zenshoh Yamaoka at Zenshoh kiln, Japan, known for his precise, highly sophisticated and elegant drawing techniques. 

The gracious hand-painting of red Japanese camellia blossoms and a joyfully singing sparrow express the winter and early spring season. The vivid green colour of the camellia leaves and golden shades add more elegance to this unique chawan.

Made by Zenshoh Yamaoka at Zenshoh Kiln. Zenshoh Yamaoka was born in 1942 and worked under Zenjiroh Ueyama for 10 years before opening his own kiln in 1969. He is highly appraised for sophisticated and elegant drawing techniques and he is an officially designated traditional craftsman by the by the Japnese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. His exquisite work is highly appreciated among the Kyoyaki style ceramic collectors.
