The origin of white tea is Fujian, China and we also offer exceptional quality, white tea, Silver Needle (Yin Zhen) and White Peony from Fuding in our white tea collection. White Peony (aka. Bai Mu Dan) is a delicate, white tea, made of a downy silver bud and the top two newest leaves harvested in spring. White tea is the least processed tea among the six different kinds of tea, as no firing, steaming or rolling is involved in the production. Instead, the freshly harvested tender buds and leaves are withered in the sun to allow the natural, mild oxidation to take place. The result is a very smooth, light-bodied, gentle liquor with delicate, fruity, floral and vegetal flavours.

In comparison to our Chinese White Peony made from Fuding Dai Bai cultivar grown in Fuding, Fujian Province, you will notice that the Lakyrsiew White Peony AV2 offers less vegetal and herbaceous, but more pronounced fruity notes, with delicate yet refreshing, sweet acacia honey, floral, peach note. In comparison to White Peony B157, White Peony AV2 is lighter, less fruiter yet more floral and vegetal notes.

Naturally grown without pesticide and chemical fertilizer.

Lakyrsiew Tea Garden is situated at an elevation of between 1000 and 1300m above the sea level. The garden has an ideal tea terroir to produce supreme quality, Darjeeling style black tea, as the garden benefits from its own clean, sweet, spring water and receives a good amount of rains during the monsoon season. The natural mists of the adjacent Lake Umiam provide good natural shades to elite Darjeeling cultivars grown in the garden while protecting the garden from drought during the dry season.

Recently, white tea has become increasingly popular, due to some studies linking its antioxidant properties to potential health benefits such as anti-ageing and promoting skin health.
