Wild Arbor Joongjak Loose Green Tea

Tips for Tea Connoisseurs

Wild Arbor Joongjak (also spelled as Jungjak) is a Korean Green Tea, made from tea leaves of wild tea bushes naturally grown on the slopes of Jiri Mountain, on the side of Ackyang village, Hadong, South Korea.

When brewed, Wild Arbor Joongjak offers a wonderfully gentle and harmonious liquor filled with delicate and refreshing, floral, fruity, vegetal notes with subtle toasted, nutty sweetness. Please note that our Korean teas from Hadong region are made from naturally grown wild tea bushes which yield a delicious, long, sustained, very fine, fruity finish that you also find in some oolongs and puerh sheng teas made from ancient Gushu trees. With Wild Arbor Joongjak, you will notice a slight hint of citrusy-fruity note in the finish, which leaves a refreshing sensation on the palate.

In South Korea, there are three main tea producing regions - Boseong, Hadong and Jeju Island. The history of Hadong tea dates back to 9th century and it is well-known as King's tea in South Korea, as artisan, handmade spring green tea from Hadong has been always offered as a local delicacy to kings in the past.

Small scale family tea gardens around Hadong area still continue to produce top quality, traditional, artisanal green, black and fermented teas from wild tea bushes naturally grown in the region. While you may often encounter Korean green teas from Boseong and Jeju Island, authentic, wild-bush, hand-picked, hand-made, green tea from Hadong is extremely rare in the markets outside South Korea due to the limited production. Our Wild Arbor Joongjak green tea offers a great opportunity to green tea enthusiasts to try authentic South Korean green tea from Hadong.

Korean green tea is graded according to the date of harvest and the maturity of buds and leaves: Woojeon (First Pluck), Sejak (Second Pluck), Joongjak (Third Pluck) and Daejak (Fourth Pluck). Each grade comes up with their unique flavour and Woojeon and Sejak green tea, traditionally made from one tender bud and two newly opened leaves between mid-late April, are known for its delicate, subtle nutty, floral sweetness. Although Sejak green tea is the next best grade after Woojeon, many tea connoisseurs in South Korea really appreciate Sejak and Joongjak, as the flavour profile is more pronounced and the price is more affordable than Woojeon.

As with all the green teas, our Wild Arbor Joongjak is a rich source of vitamin C, catechin and amino acids. There are several studies indicating potential health benefits of green tea such as promoting skin health, weight loss, heart health and cancer prevention.

Naturally grown without pesticide and chemical fertilizer.
